Last year one of the bowling greens on Winton Rec became redundant. As a temporary measure we arranged for the Council to plant wild meadow flowers, which produced a wonderful show of colour and aracted some beauful buerflies not seen in Winton for some me. The wild flowers bloomed for only 4 weeks, and we want to win funds to make more lasng changes.

In parcular, we’d like to extend the popular children’s play park toward the café, and introduce sensory staons/facilies for the many special needs children who visit.

Further, three Scout and Guide Groups exist within a short distance of the Rec, and even more are within 15 minutes’ walk. We’d like to create a lockable ‘outside space’ where these groups could meet and work on their outdoor acvies.

Finally, many residents told us that they would like somewhere to sit and share coffee with their friends when they visit the Park. Linking the Play Park with the Café will help this and we would like to explore this possibility as well as giving the Rec a general “makeover”.
