We would like to reduce the perennial problem of surface flooding which affects Mandale Road, some of Poole Lane and occasionally Nutley Way and Nutley Close. The work required is quite technical. Although there are Wessex Water gullies in Mandale Rd, there are no highway drains, and no matter how often the gullies are cleared of leaves, debris from Turbary Common will wash down and block them again in no time. Water quickly builds up, often enough to overflow into Nutley Way and Nutley Close gardens. A similar problem exists in Poole Lane, between Moore Avenue and Mayfair Gardens. Council officers have suggested that installing proper drains in Mandale Rd together with changes to Poole Lane drainage would greatly improve things, although in extreme situations there may still be problems.
