Following the survey run in the autumn, we have gained enough support for the crossing on Columbia Road, near the junction with Priestley Road.
This crossing is important to help safeguard children crossing Columbia road on their way to schools in the area. Columbia Road is a busy road and pedestrians need protecting. Children are heading north to Kingsleigh and the Bourne Academy, or south towards St Marks and the Glenmoor and Winton Boys' School site. There are also clear benefits to the elderly in terms of having another safe crossing place on such a busy road.
The local Conservative Councillors and activists made teh case for the crossing following a petition presented to full coucnil back in April.
The services and location indicate that it will need to be a zebra crossing, but any help for pedestrians will be welcomed by many.
